‘Supernatural’ was a one-night-only solo exhibition at Canary Club in Shelby Park, Louisville, Kentucky.

Supernatural

This new body of work by Shelby Rodeffer weaves together the esoteric world of the occult and the unpredictable force of entropy in late-stage capitalism. Through hand-sewn and painted banners inspired by Masonic regalia, each piece is a conversation about hope, entropic chaos, and a brief respite in the artist’s Southern culture.

In this exhibition, Rodeffer’s messages — hand-painted onto silk and satin banners — combine nihilistic thoughts with Southern idioms, creating a fusion of introspection and humor. As you venture through the exhibition, you will encounter calls-to-action interlaced with absurdity. The messages, simultaneously silly and thought-provoking, invite contemplation on the futility of life's grand tapestry. "Supernatural" is an invitation to embrace the disordered nature of our world, and to find solace in the nonsensical.
